Smokehead Tequila Cask Terminado is a limited edition of the peated Islay single malt created in 2010 by the Scottish company Ian MacLeod. The distillery behind it is kept secret.
The whisky is finished in ex-tequila reposado casks, which add herbal notes. Maturation in tequila casks was only approved in Scotland in 2019.
The nose has light maritime peat, then smoke and the green notes of cooked agave. The palate is smoky, salty and slightly citrus, with caramel, pineapple, lemon, blood orange and lime.
