This is an 11 year old single malt Scotch whisky from Islay, an island known for heavily peated whiskies. After its main maturation it was finished in casks that previously held Tokaji, the sweet Hungarian wine, which adds a winey richness to the Islay character.
The nose is smoky and fruity, with fatty peat, hot chocolate and ripe fruit. The palate is rich and creamy, mixing peat with candied fruit and gentle spice, with a light salinity. The finish is long and warming, with smoke and fruity sweetness lingering.
