Springbank 10 Year Old is a Campbeltown single malt from Springbank Distillery, owned by J. & A. Mitchell & Co. since 1828. It is bottled at 46% without chill filtration or added colouring.
Roughly 60 percent of the whisky is matured in ex-bourbon casks and 40 percent in ex-sherry casks. It is lightly peated, at 12 to 15 ppm, and distilled two and a half times. The distillery carries out every stage of production on site, including floor malting.
The nose has damp peat, orchard fruit, orange zest, heather and honey. The palate is oily and full bodied, with pepper, nutmeg and cinnamon, then honeycomb, tropical fruit, milk chocolate and gentle wood smoke. The finish is long, sweet and salty, with coconut and dry peat.
