Springbank – 10 Year Old Rundlets & Kilderkins

Springbank 10 Year Old Rundlets & Kilderkins is a Campbeltown single malt that returns to the old practice of maturing whisky in small casks. Its name refers to two cask types used until the 19th century: the rundlet, holding 68 litres and traditionally used for wine, and the kilderkin, holding 74 to 83 litres depending on the period and traditionally used for beer. Small casks were favoured by illicit distillers in the remote Campbeltown area. They mature spirit faster than the standard cask of roughly 240 litres. Springbank has belonged to the same family since 1828.
