This is a five-year-old Springbank single malt from Campbeltown, bottled at 100 Proof, which is 57.1% vol. It was matured for its full five years in selected bourbon casks.
The bourbon wood gives it a warm, spicy-sweet profile. A few drops of water bring out extra fruit and smoke.
The nose offers malt and pepper with a touch of sea water, traces of peat smoke, citrus and liquorice. The palate is full, powerful and creamy-oily, with honey, vanilla, oak, lemon zest and a fine peat note. The finish is very long, with sea-salt spice, a little peat and caramel-sweet malt.
