Springbank – 15 Year Old (70cl, 46%)

Springbank – 15 Year Old is a single malt whisky from Springbank (Campbeltown). Aged 15 years, bottled at 46% ABV, 70cl. Found in one of the most remote parts of Scotland, the Springbank Distillery is still family-owned. Situated in the western parts of Scotland on the Kintyre Peninsula, it is owned by J & A Mitchell & Company. They also own Glengyle Distillery, William Cadenheads (the oldest independent bottler) and several other blended scotch labels. They are tough cookies down in this neck of the world where they are one of the last surviving producers of single malt whiskies in Campbeltown. They were licensed in 1828 and at one time the area had over thirty active distilleries. The distillery produces both peated and unpeated expressions under three distinct brands. Springbank, Hazelburn and Longrow. Still part of the core range down in Campletown, just slightly older packaging. The distillery has been making somewhat of a comeback lately with collectors scrambling to get their hands on some of their sublime malts.
