Springbank – 25 Year Old (70cl, 46%)

Springbank 25 Year Old is a Campbeltown single malt from the family-owned Springbank distillery, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill filtered and has no added colour. The whisky spent twenty-five years in sherry and bourbon casks, followed by a marrying period in refill port casks. Springbank malts, distils, matures and bottles on a single site, and uses a two-and-a-half-times distillation. It is described as deep dried fruit, with fig, raisin and date, alongside walnut, old oak and dark chocolate. A saline, maritime undercurrent and light peat run through it, and the finish is long and warming, with sherry-soaked fruit and spice.
