Springbank 30 Year Old is an annual limited release single malt from the family-owned Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown. It is bottled at 46% ABV in a 700ml bottle, non-chill filtered and with natural colour.
The whisky spent 30 years in refill bourbon casks. Springbank has been run by J & A Mitchell & Company since 1828, floor-malts its own barley and distils two and a half times.
The nose is waxy, with apricots, quince jelly, acacia honey and mead, plus faint fennel and distant peat smoke. The palate is honeyed, with tangerines, oranges, Meyer lemon, eucalyptus, cigar box and coastal minerality. The finish brings pepper, salted caramel and toffee.
