Springbank 5 Year Old is a Campbeltown single malt matured for five years in ex-bourbon and refill casks and bottled at cask strength, around 57% ABV. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour.
The nose is fresh, with white chocolate, vanilla shortbread, icing sugar, marshmallow and nougat, over peat smoke, kettle ash and damp sea air. The palate is full-bodied, with vanilla custard, spun sugar and lemon zest, then green tea, peppery peat and maritime brine. The finish is long and warming, with dry oak, ground pepper, a saline note and a faint hint of coal tar.
