Springbank Claret Wood is a limited release from Campbeltown, distilled in May 1997, in a 70cl bottle at 54.4% abv.
The whisky spent seven years in refill bourbon barrels, then three years in fresh claret casks from Bordeaux, and a further two years in re-charred casks, which were used to smooth out the wine influence.
It is described as refreshing, rich and fruity, with hints of coal smoke, honey, figs, a little ginger and pine resin.
