Springbank – Local Barley 11 Year Old (70cl, 55.1%)

This is an eleven-year-old Springbank made from barley grown on the Kintyre peninsula, a few miles from the distillery. It is bottled at 55.1% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The barley is malted, distilled, matured and bottled at Springbank, which makes it a wholly Campbeltown single malt. The whisky was matured in a mix of casks: 55 per cent sherry, 35 per cent bourbon and 10 per cent rum. The nose has bourbon, vanilla, salted caramel, spicy wood and charcoal. The palate is gentle and creamy, with citrus, vanilla, earthy and mineral notes and some tar. The finish is long, with pleasant sweetness, light smoke and a little salt.
