This Springbank from Campbeltown was distilled in 2009 from local barley and bottled in 2018 at cask strength, 57.7% ABV. It spent nine years in a mix of 80% bourbon and 20% sherry casks. The outturn is 9,700 bottles.
The nose is delicate smoke, ash and wax, with caramel, light sweetness, vanilla, young wood and a hint of spice. The palate is very sweet, with caramel, vanilla, citrus, smoke, pepper and nutmeg, then oak and dark chocolate. The long finish opens with smoke, citrus, spice, white pepper and oak, followed by nuts and dark chocolate of at least 80% cocoa.
