St. Antony has produced wine since the end of the First World War and was officially founded in 1920. It has been a member of the VDP since 1990 and has worked with certified organic standards since 2006.
This Blaufränkisch comes from Nierstein, where St. Antony owns 60 hectares of vineyards, mainly in Rote Hang. The grapes come from the top sites Pettenthal and Ölberg, and only the best barrels are selected for the top wine Rothe Bach; the rest is used for this Ortswein.
It is bluish-red in colour, with aromas of pepper, blackberry, tart plums, a touch of liquorice and dried herbs. The palate shows pure, juicy cherry fruit, delicate and creamy, with graceful acidity, and a hint of nutty, spicy oak behind the fruit.
