St. George Bruto Americano (75cl)

Bruto Americano is a bitter aperitif from St. George in California, shaped by distiller Lance Winters' memories of growing up there in the 1970s. It is made from herbs, roots and other botanicals. Gentian root provides most of the bitterness, California-grown Seville orange the citrus, and balsam fir and Cascara sagrada, the bark of the California buckthorn, the woodsy notes. The nose is vibrant citrus with cinnamon, sandalwood and forest. The palate starts bitter, moves to a woodsy middle and ends in a lingering bitter and citrus finish. It works with soda, or in a Negroni, Boulevardier, Americano or Spritz.
