Stagg Jr Batch 2 is a barrel-strength Kentucky straight bourbon from Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, bottled at 64.35% (128.7 proof) in a 75cl bottle. It was released in the spring of 2014 and is uncut and unfiltered.
It is made from Buffalo Trace's high-rye Mash Bill #1 and aged for roughly eight to nine years in new charred oak. This batch came in lower in proof than the first Stagg Jr release at 134.4 proof.
The nose brings black cherry cola, caramel, butter pecan, vanilla and oak. The palate is velvety, with candied cherry, rum cake and sweet rye herbs, and a peppery heat. The finish is cola syrup of medium to long length.
