Starward Octave Barrels is a limited-edition Australian single malt, bottled at 48% and non-chill filtered. It is made in Melbourne and matured in 100L octave barrels that previously held Yalumba's The Octavius Shiraz.
The warm Melbourne climate speeds up maturation, and the wine barrels leave a clear red-fruit influence.
The nose brings red berries, stewed stone fruits, toasted oak, caramel and spice. On the palate are raspberry jam, dark plums, honeyed citrus and velvety toffee, followed by a long finish of warming oak with a touch of mint.
