Starward Solera is an Australian single malt in a 750ml bottle, bottled at 43% ABV. It was the first whisky released by the Melbourne distillery, which was founded in 2007 by David Vitale.
The malt is made from 100% Australian malted barley, double distilled, and matured exclusively in Apera casks, Australia's sherry-style fortified wine barrels. It is blended under a solera system, so younger matured spirit is married into older whisky and each release is tied back to the one before.
The nose brings ripe orchard fruit, raisin, toffee and vanilla. The palate is caramel chew and creme brulee sweetness over ripe banana, fig and a little nougat, and the finish is juicy and full, returning to raisin with a touch of oak and lingering dry spice.
