Starward – Solera Single Malt Australian Whisky (70cl, 43%)

Starward Solera is an Australian single malt bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It is named after the solera method of sherry making, in which a portion of each young cask is blended with older ones, so that some of the first cask is always present. In this whisky that means a trace of the distillery's very first cask. The malt was matured in Apera wine casks from the McWilliams winery, an Australian fortified wine, which brings sherry-like notes. The nose offers tropical fruit with toffee and vanilla. The palate is full-bodied and gently sweet, with roasted toffee, banana, crème brûlée and exotic spices. The finish is long, with dark fruit and spicy oak.
