Stauning – El Clasico Rye Spanish Vermouth Cask Finish (70cl)

Stauning El Clasico is a Danish rye whisky made from 51% rye and 49% barley, in a 70cl bottle. It matured for three years in new American oak and was then finished for about six months in casks that had held Spanish vermouth, which gives it a winey character. The label was drawn by the Danish tattoo artist Thit Hansgaard and shows a demon that is half bull, half devil. The nose is sweet and rounded, with apple, cinnamon and caramel. The palate is soft and fruity, with citrus, spice and dried fruit. The finish is long and bittersweet.
