This is a single barrel of Texas straight bourbon from Still Austin, selected exclusively for the Albert Hotel in Texas and bottled at cask strength, 58% ABV or 116 proof. Still Austin makes its whiskey in Austin, with head distiller John Schrepel, and its custom 42-foot column still is known to the team as Nancy.
The nose is deep and dark, with caramel, chocolate and fudge, flashes of German chocolate cake and toasted marshmallow, and a workshop edge of leather, shoe polish and fresh-cut wood. The palate is sweeter than expected, led by chocolate, with a wood-stain character softened by sugar and caramel. The finish stays dark, with oak and char.
