Stitzel Reserve 31 Year is a Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey aged 31 years and bottled at 163.2 proof, or 81.6% vol. At 31 years, it is the oldest age-stated Kentucky straight bourbon in the current catalog. The Stitzel Reserve name evokes the Stitzel-Weller legacy, the Louisville distillery that produced Old Fitzgerald, W.L. Weller and the original Van Winkle bourbons before closing in 1992. Surviving intact barrels of sound Kentucky bourbon at this age are rare, representing exceptional warehouse positioning, favourable production conditions, or both.
