Straight Edge is a bourbon from Splinter Group, the spirits business founded by Dave Phinney of Orin Swift. It is bottled at 42% in a 750ml bottle and blends bourbons aged 5, 7 and 8 years from Kentucky and Tennessee.
The blend is then finished for four to five months in French oak barrels that previously held Orin Swift's Mercury Head 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.
On the nose it shows brown sugar, maple, caramelised oak, exotic spices, orange peel and campfire. The palate is rich with honey and intense caramel, and the finish is long and persistent.
