This is an 11 year old American single malt from Stranahan's in Denver, Colorado, and the distillery's first Bottled-in-Bond release. It marks two anniversaries: 250 years of the United States and 150 years of Colorado.
It is made from 100% malted barley, distilled between January and June 2015. It then matured for 11 years in new American white oak barrels with a level 3 char, inside a federally bonded warehouse in Denver. Rocky Mountain water from Eldorado Springs brought it down to 50% (100 proof) in a 750ml bottle.
The nose offers candied apples, baked orchard fruit, pipe tobacco and oiled leather. The palate brings velvety caramel, dark chocolate and molasses, and the finish is long and silky, with oak, cocoa nib and spearmint.
