Stranahan's Bottled in Bond 11 Year Old is an American single malt made from 100% malted barley, bottled at 50%. It is the distillery's first Bottled-in-Bond release and the oldest Colorado Bottled-in-Bond whiskey released.
The whiskey was distilled in a single season, January to June 2015, and aged for 11 years in new American white oak barrels with a level 3 char, in a bonded warehouse in Denver. It was cut to proof with Rocky Mountain water from Eldorado Springs, and released to mark Colorado's 150th and America's 250th anniversaries.
The nose offers candied apples, baked orchard fruit, pipe tobacco and oiled leather. The palate is velvety with caramel, cracked pepper and dark chocolate, and the finish is long and silky with oak, cocoa nib and a hint of spearmint.
