Stranahan's Bottled in Bond is an 11 year old American single malt and the distillery's first bottled-in-bond release. It marks Colorado's 150th and America's 250th anniversaries.
It was distilled from 100% malted barley in a single season, January to June 2015, and matured in new American white oak barrels with a level 3 char, in a federally bonded warehouse in Denver. It was bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV), cut with water from Eldorado Springs in the Rocky Mountains.
Tasting notes describe candied apples, baked orchard fruit and pipe tobacco on the nose, a velvety palate of caramel, cracked pepper and dark chocolate, and a long finish of oak, cocoa nib and spearmint.
