Local Brewer's Cask is the fourth release in Stranahan's Diamond Peak series, a Colorado whiskey finished in barrels from the state's leading brewers. Those barrels previously held beers such as coffee stouts, barley wines and Belgian quads.
The whiskey first spent four to six years in new American oak, then a further year and a half to two years in the seasoned beer casks. It is bottled at 45% ABV.
The nose brings raisin, fig, chocolate-covered candied orange, espresso and old cedar. The palate shows chocolate malt, berries, orange slices and hazelnut, and the finish is dry and medium in length, with a thick texture that coats the mouth.
