Stranahan's Mountain Angel 10 Year Old is an American single malt whiskey made from 100% malted barley at the Stranahan's distillery in Denver, Colorado. It is cut with Rocky Mountain water and bottled at 45% ABV in a 75cl bottle.
The whiskey spent ten years in new charred American oak. It was first released in September 2020 as an annual release, and was the first 10-year-old straight American single malt. The distillery sits over a mile high, and it says the altitude increases the angel's share and gives the whiskey added depth.
The nose is candied apple, spicy pipe tobacco and oiled leather. The palate is velvety, with tobacco, pepper, dark chocolate, molasses and charred oak, and the finish is long and silky with oak, dark caramel and earthy spearmint.
