Stranahan's Sherry Cask is a four-year-old American single malt from Colorado, bottled in a 75cl bottle. It spends four years in new white American oak, then is finished in Oloroso sherry casks from Andalusia in Spain that held wine there for over 40 years.
Master Distiller Rob Dietrich chose these well-worn casks to draw enough flavour into the whiskey to make an impact.
The nose is of over-ripe cherry, sweet apple, raisins, almonds, leather and fresh-cut hay. The palate offers honey, Montmorency cherries, blackcurrant and fig with walnut, and the finish brings buttery caramel, whipped cream, brown sugar and smoked cayenne.
