Strathmill 12 Year Old is a single malt from the Strathmill distillery in Keith, in Speyside, which was founded in 1891. It belongs to the Flora & Fauna series, a range of bottlings from lesser-known distilleries, and is bottled at 43%.
The nose is slightly prickly and closed at first. With water it opens to sweet, minty aromas, Café Noir biscuits and chocolate. The palate starts sweet with a touch of sharpness, with a silky texture, winter spices, vanilla custard and a nutty oiliness. The finish is medium in length and dry, with chocolate in the aftertaste.
