Suntory AO is a blended world whisky in a five-sided 700ml bottle, bottled at 43%. Chief blender Shinji Fukuyo drew on Suntory's own distilleries in Japan, Scotland, Ireland, the USA and Canada. It was launched for global travel retail in October 2020.
"Ao" is Japanese for blue, the colour of the oceans connecting the five whisky regions, and the five sides of the bottle stand for those regions.
The nose is smoky and evolving, moving from sweet grain to malt, with young bourbon and a trace of smoke. The palate goes from faint citrus, vanilla and tea biscuit through wood spice. The finish is malty and smoky, with fruit, nut and chocolate on the aftertaste.
