Suntory Toki Black Japanese Whisky (75cl, 43%)

Suntory Toki Black is a blended Japanese whisky with no age statement, bottled at 43% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It is a limited-edition 'Smoky and Rich' version of the Toki blend, which draws on whisky from the Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita distilleries. The difference from the original recipe is the addition of peated Hakushu whisky, which brings gentle peat smoke and extra depth. The black in the name refers to the bottle design and the smokier profile, not to charcoal filtration. On the nose there is baked apple, oregano and honeysuckle over light peat. The palate offers butterscotch sweetness with clove, cinnamon, lavender and toasted rosemary, and the finish is sweet with white pepper, ginger and lingering smoke.
