Yamazaki 12 Year Old is a Japanese single malt from the Yamazaki distillery on the outskirts of Kyoto, which Shinjiro Torii founded in 1923. It is made from malted barley only.
The whisky is matured for a minimum of 12 years in a mix of American oak, Spanish oak and Mizunara casks.
It is typically described as honeyed and fruity, with dried fruit, cinnamon and soft incense on the nose, then stone fruit, coconut, baking spice and subtle oak on the palate. The finish is long, warming and delicately smoky.
