Yamazaki 18 Year Old is a Japanese single malt from the Yamazaki distillery in Shimamoto, Osaka Prefecture, which Shinjiro Torii established in 1923. This is a limited edition, in a 750ml bottle.
The whisky was matured for 18 years in three kinds of cask: American white oak, Spanish sherry oak and Mizunara Japanese oak.
The nose brings plum, cherry and dried tropical fruit from the sherry casks, with incense and sandalwood from the Mizunara. The palate is silky, with chocolate, coconut, dried fruit and warm spice. The finish is long, with Mizunara incense lingering to the end.
