Yamazaki 18 Year Old is a Japanese single malt whisky from the Yamazaki distillery, bottled by Suntory at 43% in a 750ml bottle. The distillery was founded in 1923 on the outskirts of Osaka.
The whisky has matured for eighteen years in a combination of American oak, Spanish oak and Japanese Mizunara oak casks.
The nose is honeyed peach and apricot with candied orange, clove and an incense note from the Mizunara. On the palate come dark chocolate, raisin and caramel, then cinnamon and honey. The finish is long and warming, with ginger and a trace of sandalwood.
