This is an eight-year-old Talisker from the Isle of Skye, bottled at cask strength as part of the Diageo Special Releases of 2021. It is a powerful, smoky and salty malt.
The nose opens sweet and maritime, with a touch of oats giving way to salted seaweed, sea salt and iodine over a hint of mountain smoke.
The palate is soft and oily, at first almost perfumed, then salty, lightly sweet, peaty and smoky. The finish is long and peppery.
