Talisker 8 Year Old is a single malt from the Isle of Skye, bottled in the 1970s for The Distillers Agency Ltd. of Edinburgh. It comes in a 75.5cl bottle at 45.7%, or 80 degrees proof, and the label calls it The Golden Spirit of the Isle of Skye.
The nose combines ripe citrus zest, apple and dark cherries, with warming clove, a hint of mint and subtle oak and vanilla. On the palate come rich toffee, roasted apple, hints of dark chocolate, sea spray and smoky malt, with a thick texture. The finish is long, with charred oak, spice and honey-tinged peat.
