Talisker 8 Year Old is a single malt from the Isle of Skye, released in 2020 as part of Diageo's annual Special Releases. It is bottled at 57.9% ABV.
This edition was matured in ex-rum casks, which add sweet, tropical and spicy aromas to Talisker's peppery smoke. The label carries an illustration of a mythical sea creature.
The nose combines sea salt, peat smoke, pineapple, citrus, light molasses and warm spices. The palate is oily and intense, with smoke, black pepper, toffee, ginger, tropical fruit and a touch of rum sweetness. The finish is long, warm and smoky, sweet and salty, with a spicy kick.
