This is Talisker The Wild Explorator, from the 2023 Special Releases, bottled at 59.7% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The peated, coastal Talisker spirit was finished in Ruby, White and Tawny Port casks, and the sweetness runs against the more robust, savoury distillate.
The nose has sultanas, dates and sweet spices over a chalky, mineral character, with coastal notes and earthy pear smoke. The palate is full-bodied and creamy, with powerful fruit, black pepper, gunpowder smoke and cinnamon. The finish is long, with fruit loaf notes and warmth.
