Tamdhu – Oloroso Sherry Cask Batch Strength 2014 (75cl, 50.7%)

This is a single-vintage Speyside single malt from Tamdhu, distilled in 2014 and bottled at 50.7%, a strength chosen after tasting the batch at several. It was put together by Sandy McIntyre from the best casks of the year, and bottled with natural colour and without chill filtration. The whisky is matured entirely in Oloroso sherry casks: first-fill European oak, American oak, and a small parcel of refill casks for depth. The nose offers apricot pastries, allspice and nutmeg, and fig jam with hazelnuts. Bright berries and milk chocolate lead on the palate, building into a long finish of gingerbread, dried fruit and more chocolate.
