This is a 12 year old Tamnavulin single malt from Speyside, distilled in 2011 and bottled by Tri Carragh as Release 04. It is an outturn of 314 bottles at 56.8% ABV, in a 700ml bottle.
The whisky spent more than 11 years in an ex-bourbon cask, then had a nine-month finish in a first-fill Pedro Ximénez sherry hogshead.
The nose offers chocolate ganache, lemon-icing citrus and a light floral lift. On the palate, light tannins and peppery spice frame a chocolate-orange note, and a little water makes it creamier and sweeter.
