This is a 16-year-old Irish single malt from Teeling, bottled at 46% ABV in a 700ml bottle as a limited edition in the Phoenix Legends 2 Notre Dame Series. It is non-chill filtered.
The whiskey was distilled from 100% malted barley and matured in oak casks. It then had a second period in casks that previously held Marsala, the fortified wine from western Sicily.
The nose shows dark cherries, stewed plums, candied orange peel, toasted almond and baking spice. The palate is smooth and honeyed, with fig preserve, dark chocolate and cinnamon. The finish is long, with walnut, dried apricot and black pepper.
