Teerenpeli 'Savu' is a gently peated single malt from Lahti in Finland, bottled at 43% ABV in a 75cl bottle. Savu is the Finnish word for smoke. It is made from Finnish malted barley and matured in 80% ex-bourbon and 20% Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, a combination chosen in blind tastings by ambassadors and fair visitors. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour.
The nose is light smoke and tender fruit, with fresh barley and a touch of grass and earth. The palate has plenty of barley and gentle peat, with butterscotch, caramel and bonfire warmth. The finish is medium to long, with light peat, smoke and a barley-sugar coating.
