Templeton Rye Stout Cask Finish is an Iowa rye whisky bottled at 46% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is the fourth release in the distillery's Barrel Finish Series.
The mash bill is 95% rye and 5% malted barley. The whisky was aged for six years in new charred American oak, then finished for three months in casks that previously held a bourbon-barrel-aged chocolate coffee stout.
The nose brings cinnamon, red berries, green pepper, caramel and grapefruit zest. On the palate, pine and peppercorn lead into molasses, black cherry and dark chocolate, with subtle coffee over the rye spice. The finish is long, with cocoa and roasted malt fading into rye pepper.
