Tenjaku Blended Japanese Whisky (75cl, 40%)

Tenjaku is a blended Japanese whisky from Fuefuki in Yamanashi Prefecture, bottled at 40% in a 75cl bottle. The name is written with the characters for the skylark, the herald of spring. It blends whiskies of 3, 5 and 6 years old, matured in heavily seasoned Kentucky bourbon barrels and reduced with natural spring water from the Misaka mountain range, filtered through volcanic rock in the Mt. Fuji basin. The brand describes a mash of 86% corn and 14% barley, double distilled in copper pots. The nose is faintly smoky with sweet pear and dried fruit. The attack is slightly edgy before settling into a rounded, mellow palate, and the finish is long and lightly spicy, with a hint of white oak.
