This is a 14 year old Speyside single malt from The Balvenie, matured in traditional oak whisky casks and then finished in casks that once held Caribbean rum. It comes in a 75cl bottle.
The rum cask finish adds notes of toffee and fruit to the honeyed Balvenie character. The nose offers soft brown sugar, maple syrup, vanilla and honey, with cherry liqueur chocolates and a slight suggestion of pepper and oak.
The palate has a waxy mouthfeel, overripe bananas and nectarines, and rum-soaked Christmas cake with plenty of candied ginger. The finish is moderate to quite long, with honey, brown sugar, nutmeg and cardamom.
