The Balvenie 16 Year Old French Oak Pineau Cask is a single malt finished in casks that previously held Pineau des Charentes, a fortified wine from the Charentes vineyards, made by adding Cognac eau-de-vie to unfermented grape juice. It is bottled at 47.6% in a 700ml bottle.
It is the first Balvenie finish to use French oak. The tasting notes describe tangy lemon rind and grapefruit, followed by the gentle sweetness of glazed fruits and spice from root ginger.
