The Balvenie 19 Year Old Week of Peat is a Speyside single malt made from barley that the distillery malts itself over peat fires during one week each year. It was matured for 19 years in American oak ex-bourbon casks.
It is bottled at 47.6% in a 70cl bottle and was released for travel retail.
The nose combines earthy smoke with honey, dried orchard fruit and a little vanilla. On the palate syrupy sweetness comes first, then citrus, creamy vanilla and honey, with peat building gradually. The finish is long and warming, with cinnamon, peat smoke and honey.
