The Balvenie 21 Year Old PortWood is a Speyside single malt from The Balvenie Distillery in Dufftown, which William Grant established in 1892. Whisky matured for more than twenty years in American oak ex-bourbon casks is moved into 30 year old port pipes for a final finish of several months. It was first released in 1996 by Malt Master David C. Stewart.
This bottling is at 43% in a 750ml bottle.
The nose is deep and rich, with red grapes, honey, toasted oak, mango, orange peel, raisin and a hint of clove. The palate is creamy, with prunes, oak, citrus, red berries and baked apples.
