This is The Balvenie A Collection of Curious Casks, Story No. 10: a 14 year old single cask matured fully in American oak barrels that previously held bourbon. Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie hand-selected it.
The whisky was destined for Single Barrel 12, but it took a different turn. It was distilled just after peat week, which left a whisper of smokiness alongside the character of the bourbon wood. It belongs to the Balvenie Stories range.
Expect smouldering oak, woody and earthy flavours, layers of candied orange and a deep vanilla oakiness.
