The Balvenie A Revelation Of Cask And Character is a 19-year-old single malt from Dufftown in Speyside, and Story No. 9 in the distillery's Stories Collection. It is the first whisky designed solely by Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie.
The theme is coopering. The whisky is fully matured in European oak Oloroso sherry butts and bottled at 47.5%, non-chill-filtered and at natural colour, a deep amber that is almost ruby. The label carries a cooperage illustration by the British artist Andy Lovell.
Ripe fruit, caramelised orange peel, toasted oak, toffee and honey come through on the nose, with berries and white pepper. The palate offers currants, cherries, raisins, Christmas-cake spice and fig, and the finish is long, creamy and nutty.
